Individual Counselling

Our counselling work together will lie primarily within the framework of cognitive-behavioural and mindfulness-based therapy. These scientifically supported counselling techniques are effective for helping people cope with stress and burnout, symptoms of anxiety and depression, self-esteem problems, anger issues, grief, and a myriad of other longstanding personal difficulties that you may be faced with.

Using cognitive-behavioural therapy techniques, you can learn more about your underlying conditioned thoughts, emotions, belief systems and behavioural (coping) patterns that are getting you stuck, and that are preventing you from moving forward in life in the way that you hoped you would.

Mindfulness techniques can help you transform your relationship to these unhelpful patterns. This will help empower you and give you a greater sense of freedom in how you choose to respond, freeing you from a great source of your suffering, and helping you identify with who you truly are inside.

Narrative therapy techniques may also be used to help you overcome difficult life events that you are having trouble moving past, bringing a sense of resolution in the story of your life, and making it easier for you to reach your fullest potential.

Overall, the counselling approach is values-driven, allowing you to take more control in designing the course of your life, and encouraging commitment to long-lasting change.

At all times, treatment is individualized and the course of therapy will depend on your specific needs and goals. Length of treatment also varies, but the majority of people find that they benefit from anywhere between 4-20 sessions. The specific length of your treatment is entirely up to you and will be something that we can discuss in our initial consultation.

I invite you to join me for a COMPLIMENTARY initial 15-minute consultation if you’re interested in learning more about the counselling process or if you’d like to learn more about booking a full 60-minute session with me in my office, or via online video conferencing.

I look forward to meeting you soon!

– Lindsay
